MDH begins charging for access

Jeez, to read the comments about this, you'd think it was the end of the world.
As we see it, they're just a bunch of whiny freeloaders.

Yes, the Herald leaves a lot to be desired; but it's cheap entertainment! We think the reason they went to paid access is to stop Jay Capron from stealing their stories...no way Nelson would pay for a subscription. Now the only news CSJ will have is from Ottawa.

Our favorite comments are from those who claim they can't afford a subscription. How much are you paying for internet?

Maybe this is pie in the sky thinking, but the MDH remaining in business crowds out a potentially more fair, balanced, objective, and investigative local media outlet.

This is the nail in the coffin for the MDH. The Joliet paper covers the area better anyway and they are free. Also, I know for a fact that the Morris paper has the radio station on all the time and they are usually behind Jay.
I actually think he does a good job considering he is the only guy on the station's skimpy payroll. they might be in trouble too

Can they print one more daily article IN A ROW of the spooky magician dentist from Channahon? What is he the editor?

Are you referring to "The Magical Disappearing Mercadante Blog"?

Here's what I hated about the MDH, now Morris Herald-News, going to a pay site. It pretty much put an end to the comment sections there. There isn't enough paper there to justify subscribing to it. There isn't any national news that you couldn't get from better sources and the local news is so slanted it's ridiculous. The paper's staff really makes little attempt to do investigative journalism. They just spew out one side of a story and you have to depend on the grapevine to learn the other.
