The Sunday Show

How exactly does a supposedly successful businessman (Larry Nelson) come up with the decision to sack an institution like Dick Steele? Whether you are a fan of Dick and Don, you cannot deny their importance to this town. The fact of the matter is that The Sunday Show provided more public service, and real news, than the entire rest of the week's programming. (Even with the softball questions Steele asked, he still got more out of an interview than Capron.)

Now, I don't know the first thing about running a radio station. It is however, very hard to believe that the Sunday Show could not have paid its own way. Furthermore, Nelson is throwing away "goodwill" (there's a concept you don't hear mentioned much anymore) and the backlash from this could be substantial.

Is there more to this story than we are hearing? Could Nelson be preparing to sell or shutter the station? Info is in short supply.

I agree that the Sunday Show should still be around.

What a poor decision by management. They should be ashamed.

I am not sure what you are talking about with Capron though. He is a solid newsman.

The newsmakers show on Thursdays is great local programming.

Steele will be missed, but sorry, you are wrong about Capron.

Well I see it didn't take long for the MDH to wipe out all the comments following the "Silent Sunday" story. Not suprising at all.If one comment was malicious towards WCSJ,why not wipe that one out and not the 30 others that were posted.

How much money could they possibly be saving?!

I can't believe that any of the guys at the radio station make very much. It's pennywise and dollar foolish.

That being said, I agree with 8:04 about Capron. He's the best news guy the area has had for as long as I can rembember.

Dean was good but hard to listen to and Mike Hensel just read press releases.

It looks like it was uploaded a second time on the site but I have the original article bookmarked and the comments are all there.

not sure what news Mr. Mike listens to, but there is always police news.

I think there is too much IMO. Who cares if Joe Blow from Coal City was driving with suspended registration?

This just in Mr. Mike...we all live in Grundy County. Not too much happens on the police report. Which is why most of us like to live here.
